I’m officially the worst blogger ever.
I feel like I’ve been abandoning my blogging and reading and bookstagram lately, and what’s even worse is I don’t feel bad about it. It’s liberating and refreshing. But it’s not to say I’m not coming back! I have a few drafts made for the next couple of weeks. So maybe, stay tuned?
BOOKS READ IN MAY
Before We Were Strangers – Renee Carlino
Although I found the pacing weird and the writing average, the whole thing about two people crossing each other’s paths after 15 years was just promising. Renee Carlino has awoken the hopeless romantic inside me after months of not reading anything close to romance.
This book is too cheesy for my liking, to be honest. BUT SUPER SWOON-WORTHY.
I originally gave this 3 stars, but considering I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters and the story and New York in general days after finishing the book, I’m giving it a 4.
Bet Me – Jennifer Crusie
If you’re a fan of Sophie Kinsella or has a thing for the classic chick lit, Jennifer Crusie is a go-to author. This book was hilarious, cute, light and fun! The characters are adorable and were well-crafted. A three-star means I liked it!
I Was Here – Gayle Forman
For someone who loved all of Gayle Forman’s previous works, I’m still in denial to say that this book was a let down. Of course, we’ve had too many suicide books in the past, but I Was Here is unique in its own way. It involved mystery and self-consciousness.
However, instead of letting the romance take center stage, it would’ve been nicer if the friendship between Meg and Cody did. Although for Cody to focus on her future rather than to dwell in the past seems like the better idea, I would love if there were more stories of their past, making it really a book about friendship, rather than focusing on the romance that I found really weird and unrealistic.
